Vaccine Fast Track – Samitivej Srinakarin
Fast vaccinations, minimal wait times, swift return home. For adults and seniors.
Quadrivalent Influenza Vaccine
- It should be administered annually as the strains of the disease change each year.
- It is a single dose vaccine.
- Recommended groups for the influenza vaccine include:
- Elderly individuals.
- Individuals with chronic diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure and diabetes), and cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
- Individuals with brain disabilities who cannot help themselves.
- Individuals with weakened immune systems, including those with Thalassemia, and HIV-infected individuals experiencing symptoms.
- Obese individuals with a weight of over 100 kilograms or (BMI > 35 kg/m²).
Influenza Vaccine for Seniors 65+
- Specifically for elderly individuals aged 65 and above.
- A single dose should be administered annually as the strains of the disease change each year.
- The influenza vaccine for seniors can increase protection against influenza infection by up to 24.2% compared to those who receive the regular 4-strain influenza vaccine.
- It reduces the severity of hospitalization due to influenza or pneumonia by 64.4% and helps reduce the mortality rate by 48.9%.
Pneumococcal Vaccine
- Suitable for adults, the elderly or individuals with chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease or lung disease.
- For optimal immunity, it is recommended that individuals receive the 13-strain pneumococcal vaccine first, followed by the 23-strain pneumococcal vaccine at least 1 year later, which can provide lifelong protection.
- Vaccination should be avoided in individuals with severe illness or fever, or in critically ill patients.
New Dengue Fever Vaccine
- The vaccine's efficacy against all four serotypes of dengue fever is 80.2%, with hospitalization rates reduced by 90.4%.
- It can be administered up to the age of 60.
- It can be given to individuals who have or have not previously been infected with dengue fever without the need for a blood test.
- Two doses are administered, spaced 3 months apart.
- Contraindications: Due to it being a live attenuated vaccine type, the contraindications are similar to those of other live attenuated vaccines, including:
- Individuals hypersensitive to important drug components or any added drug substance, or those hypersensitive to the previously administered dengue fever vaccines.
- Individuals with congenital or acquired cellular immune deficiencies, including those undergoing immunosuppressive therapy such as chemotherapy or corticosteroids at immunosuppressive doses for more than 4 weeks prior to vaccination.
- Individuals with symptomatic HIV infection, or asymptomatic HIV infection with evidence of impaired immune function.
- Pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers.
Shingles Vaccine
- This new vaccine is 97% effective in preventing shingles and 91.2% effective in preventing postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) in adults aged 50 and above.
- The new vaccine can be administered to individuals aged 18 and older who are at a heightened risk of developing shingles, unlike the previous vaccine type that is contraindicated for this demographic.
- Suitable for:
- Individuals aged 50 and above with declining immune function.
- Those who have had chickenpox and are at risk of shingles.
- Patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes, lung disease, or kidney disease, including those who have had COVID-19.
- Immunocompromised individuals such as organ or bone transplant recipients, individuals with autoimmune diseases like SLE, HIV positive individuals and those taking immunosuppressive drugs.
